The Writing Club

The Writing Club is on its second hiatus this year (the first one was during the Christmas break) due to the imminent start of exams. It's been quite an eventful year so far with lots of activities happening, as per usual, in the library between 03:00pm and 04:00pm.

Students have delivered several presentations about family, friends, favourite books and tv programs, food, fictional characters. Whatever tickles their fancy. This is a very good way to start off the session as it gets everyone in the mood for a bit of intense writing. Also, seeing how most of the presentations tend to take a funny turn (either in content or their delivery), they give everyone a brief respite after a long day at school.

Most sessions deal with the most obvious aspects of writing, like inspiration, managing ideas, finding a voice, character arc and editing one's work. Some sessions, on the other hand, are devoted to exposing the students to different ways of approaching a story, like music videos, movie clips and debates.
